In 2007 the Dorset Selectboard appointed Jim Hand to be the town's first Energy Coordinator. Shortly after the Dorset Energy Committee formed to help meet the energy challenges and goals of the town. The Energy Committee has made great strides toward assessing all municipal buildings for energy efficiency & getting the necessary work done to lower energy costs for the town. In 2010 the Energy Committee worked with the Dorset Fire Departments on efficiency measures at the Fire Stations. The group received nearly $40,000 in grants for efficiency work at the Fire Stations in Dorset.
