- The Town of Dorset has two Fire Districts: East Dorset Fire District # 1 and Dorset Fire District # 1.
- The Fire Districts both provide fire protection services to residents and operate public water systems in East Dorset Village (88 users) and Dorset Village ( 180 users).
- Fire Taxes and water bills are sent separately by the Fire District.
- The Fire Districts are governed by two 5 person Prudential Committees

Fire Taxes are now included in the property tax bill sent by the Town of Dorset
