Highway Department Job Opening:
The Town of Dorset seeks a Highway Department member. This is a full time 40 per week position with required overtime hours during the winter snow removal season.
Applicants must posses the following:
⊕ Must hold a current Vermont Commercial Driver's License;
⊕ Must have prior experience with heavy equipment operation;
⊕ Experience with winter snow removal in a municipal setting is preferred;
⊕ Mechanical experience is preferred;
⊕ Must reside within a 20 minute commute of Dorset;
⊕ Employee must be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time (8 hours), must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. repeatedly for extended periods of time (8 hours).
⊕ Employee must be able to take direction from Highway Department Supervisor & Town Manager.
⊕ Employee must be able to work as part of a team to accomplish tasks in a timely and efficient manner as required by the Highway Department Supervisor & Town Manager.
⊕ Employment will be subject to a 90-day probationary period, with full time employment anticipated upon successful completion of the probationary period.
⊕ Employment with the Town of Dorset will be “at will” employment.
⊕ Employment is subject to a pre-employment DOT/CDL drug test.
